An evergreen tree with fragrant white blossom which originated in the Far East. It is now grown in the Midi region of France, Southern Italy, Spain, Mexico, California and South America.

Properties: 

  • Antidepressant.
  • Antiseptic.
  • Antispasmodic.
  • Sedative.

Contra-indications:
None.

Extraction:
Steam distillation of the flowers.

Uses:

  • Flatulence.
  • Headaches.
  • Nervous tension.
  • Depression.
  • Insomnia.

Neroli is also used in skin preparations.

Due to its very soothing effect, Neroli is very helpful in stress-related conditions such as panic attacks and irritable bowel syndrome when used diluted in massage.

It has a calming effect on the heart and has a beneficial effect on dry, sensitive skin and broken capillaries. Being antispasmodic it is helpful in digestive problems such as colitis.
